Press Release 3 September 2007 From Cllr Mark Edwards Conservative Group Spokesman
RESIDENTS OF TRULL AND COMEYTROWE ALARMED BY HOUSING THREAT
Councillor Mark Edwards has met with residents of Comeytrowe Road who are extremely concerned about the development being considered for eighty homes on the fields adjoining Trull and Comeytrowe.
Councillor Edwards said, “The residents are very greatly concerned about this development and although the meeting was a last minute decision and only an hour’s notice given, over fifty residents turned up. That proves beyond doubt the concern that is felt in the area”.
He added, “It was highlighted too the residents that if this development progresses it could potentially increase the number of houses and therefore the population of Trull village by up to 15%. This is an extraordinary scale of development and should be resisted, the cost to this one community is too great.”
“One of the greatest concerns being voiced by the residents is the width of the lane and its ability to take what will be a massive increase in car movements. It is already a very busy road however it is no more than a country lane. To even consider increasing traffic movements on this road is completely unacceptable.”
“The residents all fully support Affordable Housing and fully understand the pressures that exist in the housing market however any development should be appropriate and complement the existing community meeting specific local need and this development delivers none of that.”
“I just hope that the Leader of the Council and the Executive stop this decision in advance of it being formally put forward as a planning application. They and only they can stop this development now before it progresses further as it would be classed as an exception site, it really is that simple.” |
